Standstill

I thought we were mature enough to steer away from trivial matters like this, but I guess some things will never change, no matter how you try to rid of it. Beings never fail to amuse me. 

But that's okay, it doesn't matter. You don't owe anyone an explanation; it will probably be futile even if you offer one because ultimately people see what they want to see, and hear what they wish to hear.
